The Velvet Key has always been a fairly active game. I haven't been here from the start personally, but long enough to see it go through a number of changes. There's so many players here that are eager to help out the two mods that this game does have, so I've decided that we should take on a couple of mods to assist with things. Before considering, please read through this entire post to get a better understanding of what will be expected of any potential mod applicants.
Availability:
Honestly with
tvk being such a small game, one might be expected to do mod-work that equals up to a hour or two a week. If you're hard to get in touch with it (if you don't answer private plurks or are never on AIM), we ask that you don't consider joining the app team. Communication is important and if something does come up, the other mods will need to be able to communicate with you. Time zones don't matter so long as you can reply in a timely fashion.
Demeanor:
Becoming a mod is a pretty tough job and a pretty thankless one for the most part. We've been blessed to have great players, but there may come a time where a player brings up something that you might take offense to. Everyone has bad days, but we're looking for people who generally get along with everyone. If you dislike a certain group of players in game, it's not ideal to become a mod. Players may approach you personally regarding an issue in game: a co-mod must be able to remain unbiased about this issue and address it to the best of their skill.
Expectations:
Co-mods will be expected to do any handful of tasks that may be overlooked during busy times such as processing drops, updating reserves, approving Persona, and keeping lists updated. If you don't know HTML, we'll give you the appropriate codes to fill in for things. Co-mods will also be asked to assist with the Full Moon Logs by playing enemy Shadows for players to engage in. Additionally, they will give input on questions asked in the FAQ, all plots (player and game), and applications. Finally, it might be asked that a co-mod play the role of a NPC on occasion.
For the most part, a lot of the grunt work is taken care of by myself and I feel that the plot could advance fluently if there's more assistance in the listed areas. So I've compiled a very short application that I hope is easy to fill out for those who are interested in helping out. Keep in mind that Bill and myself will be carefully considering each application to choose those who are the most qualified. Heck, if we think three people are great candidates, we might just take all of them. Before announcing our mods, there will be a brief training period to catch them up with the game and how things are being run, so there will be some delay in getting back to the community with the news.
Co-mod applications will be open from April 11th ~ April 16th. This is a short period, but this is also a tiny game that tends to make decisions fairly quick (it was voted we move from LJ->DW within a couple of hours easily). Everyone will receive confirmation that their application has been accepted and if they have been denied after. Bill and myself may actually take an applicant to the side to privately talk with them before considering as well.
It should also be noted that we're only accepting co-mod applications from players in-game only. New co-mods will be contacted after with the news and will be caught up to date with things. I'm not going to give an estimated date before we announce them in case training takes a bit longer, but as soon as it looks good, I'll give word to the community. If you're still interested after all of that babble, please fill out the following form:
